This position is open for local candidates within the continental US.
Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies.
Must be fluent in Spanish, as job will require the ability to conduct training to a Spanish speaking workforce.
Responsibilities
Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements. Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Organizes and equips spill?control teams. Writes and updates environmental and spill?control manuals and procedures. Prepares environmental impact statements and applies for all new permits and renewals. Provides input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.
Provides new hire safety training
Provides existing employees new safety training or re-nenewal of safety practices.
Manages and updates online safety spreadsheets and tracker.
Manages monthly safety meetings.
Plans for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements.
Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling.
Organizes and equips spill-control teams.
Writes and updates environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures.
Prepares environmental impact statements and applies for all new permits and renewals.
Provides input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.
Conducts and oversees the Monthly safety meetings with safety committee.
Conducts monthly safety training classes.
Conducts monthly audits of the shop and office areas to assure compliance to safety policies.
Develops and maintains Company Safety Manual.
Develops and maintains Company Evacuation Plan.
Conducts annual evacuation practice runs.
Completes annual reports required by L.A. county Fire Department Hazardous Materials Department.
Travel between locations is required (Chatsworth, Brea, Industry, and Walnut)
Responsible for multiple locations.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 1-3 years of related experience.
Extensive knowledge in specialized functions. A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of both general and specific phases of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
Planning and organization are critical to this position. Must have the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
Knowledge of CAL-OSHA Regulations.
Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
